The road so far

Since the start of the hopefeedr website almost a year ago, more than 50 children’s lives have been transformed by the sponsorship they receive through the site. To date, more than £6,000 has been paid in sponsorships to Kuyasa’s Child Sponsorship Program (CSR) in Kayamandi near Stellenbosch, South Africa.
A sponsorship is so much more than just a monthly payment, it’s an investment into a community heavily burdened by unemployment, poverty and HIV/AIDS. For every sponsored child one mum, dad, grandmother or caregiver is supported in their effort to raise a child with dignity. A sponsorship provides basic necessities like food and clothing, but above all peace of mind that the child will be looked after even if their carer passes away - this stands at the heart Kuyasa’s home-based care programme (CSR). Its holistic focus ensures that a child’s physical needs are met, and their community uplifted through skills development and employment programmes.
You can be sure that your sponsorship is hard at work in Kayamandi, transforming and empowering the lives of various people. If you are thinking about sponsoring a child, we want to encourage you to take the plunge. It will be the best £20 you spend every month. Alternatively, you can sponsor a child together as a group of friends.
We would like to improve communication between the sponsors and the children. Some of our sponsors have already written letters to the children they are sponsoring and a few children have sent cards and letters in return. In future we will be sharing the experiences of sponsors who have visited their sponsored child in Kayamandi.
What does the next few months hold for hopefeedr? A few exciting initiatives are in the pipeline. Keep an eye out for more information soon. Please feel free to make any suggestions on how we can improve your experience of sponsoring a child by posting a comment below.
